John Wiley and Sons, Inc., today announced the launch of Advanced
Science, a new premium, interdisciplinary open
access journal. Advanced Science publishes cutting-edge
research, selected through a rigorous and fair reviewing process and is
presented using the highest quality production standards to create a
premium open access journal. “Top science enjoying maximum
accessibility” is the motto of this vibrant and innovative research
publication.
Advanced Science is the latest addition to Wiley’s portfolio of Advanced
Materials journals and benefits from relationships with widely
respected titles including,Advanced
Materials, Advanced
Energy Materials and Small.
Advanced Sciencecovers fundamental and applied research in
materials science, physics and chemistry, medical and life sciences, as
well as engineering.
“An experienced, international editorial team will run the journal in
our best in-house editorial tradition, striving to make Advanced
Science the journal of choice for top-quality open access
publications,” commented Dr. Kirsten Severing, Editor-in-Chief of Advanced
Science. “This new sister journal is particularly aimed at those
authors mandated to publish in open-access-only journals but still keen
to enjoy the Advanced Materials experience,” added Dr. Peter
Gregory, Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Materials.
Advanced Science exemplifies the highest quality of
interdisciplinary publishing in terms of coverage, quality, speed,
international outlook, and services to authors. In contrast to the other Advanced
Materials journals, Advanced Science will publish
under the fully open access (CC-BY) license. The best science with
maximum accessibility will be the result.
The launch of Advanced Science was celebrated at the MRS
Fall Meeting in Boston in December 2014, where Prof. Ali Khademhosseini,
of Harvard University, said, “Advanced Science provides a forum
to represent the latest breakthrough discoveries and innovations for a
broad range of disciplines.” At the meeting Prof Thomas Anthopoulos, of
Imperial College London also commented, “I am sure that the combination
of a great editorial team and an outstanding editorial board will help
Advanced Science become a leading journal within a very short
period of time.” Both Prof Ali Khademhosseini and Prof Thomas
Anthopoulos are on the Executive Advisory Board of Advanced
Science.
The journal is open to submissions now and the first issue is already online.
