Wiley-VCH, the publisher of Small and Advanced
Healthcare Materials, is celebrating Small’s 10th anniversary
with a special session on Nanotechnology Toward Advanced Healthcare
Materials at Korea’s leading and largest symposium on nanotechnology on
July 4. Small is among the stable of Wiley’s
highly-regarded Advanced Materials range of publications.
Professor Taeghwan Hyeon from Seoul National University sits on the
board of Small.
The symposium - the International Nanotech Symposium & Nano-Convergence
Expo, NANO Korea 2014 - is expected to draw top researchers and
academics from around the world. The ascendency of nanotechnology has
been bolstered by the wave of innovations it has brought about for
society. It has impacted fields ranging from energy to healthcare.
Indeed, one of the greatest areas of development has been in
biomaterials, including tissue engineering, delivery systems and
implantable devices. The focus of the session is the application of
Nanotechnology Toward Advanced Healthcare Materials, which will include
fundamental and applied studies covering top materials science research
in medicine and biotechnology. The speakers in this session represent a
cast of leading researchers working on advanced healthcare materials,
and come from Korea and all across the globe. By bringing together these
top international researchers at NANO Korea, this session will highlight
cutting-edge research in the field and create new opportunities for
translational science.
Turning today’s research into tomorrow’s knowledge and innovations
“At Wiley, we believe that today’s research can be turned into
tomorrow’s knowledge and innovations. Indeed, we endeavor to promote
discussion, invoke thinking and share information and knowledge on the
latest in the field. Increasingly, nanotechnology has provided viable
solutions, as well as created new opportunities across a myriad of needs
and industries. It has, correspondingly, brought about robust debate and
research vigour. As such, we believe participants at this session will
find it both enlightening and enriching,” said Dr Jose Oliveira,
Editor-in-Chief, Small and Advanced Healthcare
Materials, Wiley-VCH.
Dr Oliveira is Co-Chair of the session. He will be joined by a panel of
distinguished co-organizers:
-
Professor Nam-Joon Cho, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
(Co-Chair)
-
Professor Dong June Ahn, Korea University, South Korea
-
Professor Dong Soo Lee, Seoul National University Hospital, South
Korea (President, Korean Society for Nanomedicine)
The agenda for the day can be found here.
Small: Publishing to the highest standards
Speaking on Small’s 10th anniversary, Dr Oliveira
said: “In the past decade, Small has grown in stature as one
of the best journals in nanotechnology. We are glad to have played an
important role in advancing nano- and microtechnology by publishing the
top research papers to the highest standards. This we owe to our authors
and referees, some of the best of which are from Korea. In promoting
multidisciplinary research, Small has not only provided a
deeper understanding of science at the nanoscale but has also added
impetus to the application of nanoscience across various disciplines. We
believe that the best years are ahead for both Small and Advanced
Healthcare Materials, and I am looking forward to working even more
closely with our valued authors and referees in making our journals a
valuable and trusted source of information for our users.”
