WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE™ (http://ow.ly/fezyk),
in collaboration with Jossey-Bass™, is offering faculty, campus leaders,
and business professionals the opportunity to participate in interactive
professional development workshops in January. These workshops will be
led by internationally recognized speakers, thought leaders and authors
and will address topics such as mentoring, scholarship and research, and
student engagement.
These new, January workshops provide a great opportunity for faculty and
campus leaders to focus on their professional development before the
Spring semester starts and before students return to campus. Attendees
can integrate and apply what they have learned throughout the rest of
the school year.
Also, in honor of National Mentoring Month, the President of Leadership
Development Services and author Dr. Lois J. Zachary will be leading a
special 3-part online course on the difference that excellent mentoring
can make. It will be offered in a short-course format, which will
provide more time for interactivity and application, creating a more
in-depth learning experience for higher education and business
professionals alike. The sessions will take place Friday, 1/18; Tuesday,
1/22; and Tuesday, 1/29; and will also include an asynchronous portion.
Other highlights include:
-
“Scholarship Made Easier: Best Practices for Writing and Publishing”
by presenter Linda Nilson, Clemson University on Tuesday, 1/15
-
“Engaging Online Learners: Activities and Tools to Create
Collaborative Learning” by presenter Rita-Marie Conrad, Learning
Resources Network on Thursday, 1/17
All offerings are guaranteed to be instructionally sound, highly
interactive, and immediately applicable—giving faculty, department
chairs, and campus leaders the knowledge, tools, and resources to take
what they have learned and apply it to their courses the next day.
Similar to the Fall, Flex Passes, which are prepaid registrations
that faculty and department chairs can redeem for relevant workshops
that fit into their schedules, are again available to faculty developers
and other campus leaders. Flex Passes can be purchased now and used for
January workshops or saved for spring and summer. Site Licenses are also
available to support facilitated group participation in specific
workshops.
"We are excited to launch a Winter program for WILEY
LEARNING INSTITUTE. Faculty working on their research during the
Winter break can prepare to publish their results, and online
instructors still have time to modify their Spring courses after our
Intensive. Even better, anyone in a leadership position at any
level--whether they are on a campus or in the private sector--can gain
critical skills with our Mentoring short course," said Kevin Kelly,
Ed.D., Director of WILEY LEARNING INSTITUTE.
