John Wiley and Sons, Inc., a global provider of content and content-enabled workflow solutions in areas of scientific, technical, medical, and scholarly research; professional development; and education, today announces the publication of Islamic Finance: The New Regulatory Challenge, 2nd Edition.

The book addresses the need for financial institutions to develop common Islamic international accounting and auditing standards that minimize the difference between Shariah rulings, the standardization of acceptable banking practices, the development of standardized financial products, and the role of the Shari’ah Boards in establishing common rules regarding the permissibility of financial instruments and markets.

With a foreword by Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Governor to Bank Negara Malaysia, this new edition includes eighty percent new material with contributions from leading authorities on Islamic finance from around the world. It covers the latest regulatory developments and issues surrounding the twenty-first century Islamic banking, finance and financial markets.

“The second edition addresses the implications of the recent global financial crisis on the regulation of Islamic financial services. The book has dealt with the relevant regulatory issues in a timely manner and would be much welcomed by both practitioners and academics,” Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz writes.

The content delivers a comprehensive in-depth coverage of critical regulatory and related issues including, “Problems for new Islamic financial products posed by traditional regulatory frameworks,” “Potential conflicts between Shari’ah rulings and standardized Islamic banking practices,” “Shortcomings of conventional regulatory,” and many more.
