New Book Maps Out the World in 2032 Through the Lens of Demographics

04/02/2013

The fastest growing age group for the next 20 years is sixty-four plus, not the young, according to Tomorrow’s World: A Look at the Demographic and Socio-economic Structure of the World in 2032 by Clint Laurent, founder and Managing Director of Global Demographics Ltd.

So much for the marketing advice that is given so often, namely, “Target the young affluent.” As indicated by Laurent in the book’s introduction, "The young affluent group is becoming a minority segment and is not the growth opportunity of the next decade."

The book, published by Wiley, examines the changing pattern of demographics in the next two decades based on official census results and data from a range of major indices for 74 nations, comprising 79% of the world’s population and 92% of global gross domestic product (GDP). It offers coverage of significant changes, in population, household, labor force, household incomes, consumption, environment and other factors.

“The information contained in the book is not so much the forecast provided, but rather what you do with this information,” Laurent writes.

For example, trying to steer your organization into the future without the facts in hand is like going into battle with an unloaded gun. Tomorrow’s World will arm readers with the information and analysis they need to form a clear picture of how our socio-economic landscape will evolve in the future, target the most promising emerging business and investment opportunities, and identify the most serious threats to their ongoing success.

The book is an insightful read for those looking for a sound board against which to test the truth of their current assumptions and the fitness of their strategy and long-term business planning.

Tomorrow’s World is now available for purchase online and at retailers nationwide in both print and all e-book formats. For a list of retailers, visit http://www.wiley.com/buy/9780470824719.
