The Wiley Faculty Network (WFN), which is part of John Wiley & Sons,
Inc., will co-host a virtual event with Indiana University’s Center for
Innovative Teaching and Learning on how faculty can better employ
digital course materials to help students succeed. This event is in
support of Indiana University’s innovative e-textbook initiative that
launched this spring semester, of which Wiley is a founding partner.
"It's important to augment eTexts with sound pedagogy that maximizes
student success," said Stacy Morrone, IU Associate Dean for Learning
Technologies. "Our eTexts initiative is about more than just reducing
costs -- we want to engage students through social learning features and
other eText innovations that both captivate and inspire them."
Today’s innovative technologies influence the expectations, behaviors,
and skills students now bring to the classroom. To engage them
effectively, educators can benefit from greater understanding of the
impact these technologies have on their learning and development. In
this interactive, virtual presentation Simone Conceição, Associate
Professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Wiley author, will
share strategies to adapt course design to improve student learning with
e-textbooks. Dr. Conceição is one of hundreds of leading educators
associated with the Wiley Faculty Network, which is a peer-to-peer
network sponsored by Wiley that promotes the effective use of technology
and enriches the teaching experience.
“Wiley is thrilled to partner with thought leaders such as Dr. Conceição
and top universities such as IU to create innovative educational
initiatives and opportunities. The Wiley Faculty Network is just one of
Wiley’s premier teaching and learning resources that demonstrate our
unparalleled support for the teaching and learning process,” said M.J.
O’Leary, Wiley’s Vice President, Global Education Sales and Marketing.
The event is being offered free of charge to IU faculty on Friday,
February 24, 2012, from noon to 1 p.m. (Eastern), and can be accessed
