Pfeiffer,
the training and human resources development imprint of John
Wiley & Sons, Inc. has released a new edition of the Leadership
Practices Inventory® (LPI®), the best-selling 360° leadership assessment
tool that is used by HR managers, Trainers, Organizational Development
Coaches, Soft-skills Consultants, and other leadership professionals to
help organizations measure and develop their leadership competencies.
This newly revised edition of the LPI® suite
of products includes a modern new report design, a more concise
companion workbook that is now available in color and allows individuals
and groups to better understand and use their reports. Other major
revisions include the Development Planner which focuses on specific
actions one can undertake to improve the frequency of engaging in
particular LPI® behaviors. The Facilitator’s Guide has been updated to
reflect such modern realities as: virtual debriefs, one-on-one coaching
with feedback reports and new ways to make the business case for the LPI
assessment at a time when all budgets are under scrutiny.
More than three million people have taken the LPI assessment since its
inception, when Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, the world-renowned
leadership experts and authors of the internationally bestselling book, The
Leadership Challenge first developed it. In so doing, they
turned the complex ingredients of effective leadership into five clear
Practices that anyone can follow, and through sustained effort, achieve
great leadership.
The eight new user case studies in the new revised version of the LPI
were contributed by LPI® experts with coaches, senior executives and
LPI® Self-only users specifically in mind. These eight real-life cases
also help to address the concerns of leaders with specific interest and
focus on data and research.
The new, expanded Coaching Section of the LPI® Facilitator’s Guide takes
into account the fact that the LPI® is often used outside of the
classroom and reflects the need to tailor the LPI® experience to
different and diverse scenarios. A handy, quick-reference Poster & Card
with each of the 30 LPI behaviors conveniently listed is also now
available along with a helpful explanation of how the LPI® can be used
with other leadership models, such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator®.
