Peter Booth Wiley, Chairman of the Board of Directors ofJohn Wiley &
Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa and JWb), a global provider of content and
workflow solutions in areas of scientific, technical, medical, and
scholarly research; professional; and education, announced the following
changes in the Board’s membership, effective today after the vote at the
company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders:

The election of Jesse C. Wiley, a seventh-generation
descendant of the company’s founder.

The retirement of Bradford Wiley II, a Board member since
1979 and its Chairman from 1993-2002, and
-
The retirement of Warren J. Baker, a Board member since
1993 and the President Emeritus of California Polytechnic State
University at San Luis Obispo.
“Jesse brings to the Board the fresh perspective he has gained through
his involvement in the transformation that is taking place at Wiley,”
said the senior Mr. Wiley. “His election represents the next generation
of leadership in the Wiley family and our continuing commitment to the
company. I know that my fellow directors join me in looking forward to
working closely with Jesse as we guide Wiley through this exciting and
challenging period.”
Jesse Wiley, a seventh-generation descendant of the company’s founder
and Peter Booth Wiley’s son, has been involved in the company’s
day-to-day operations since 2003. He is currently responsible for
digital and new business initiatives within Wiley’s Professional/Trade
business under the Jossey-Bass and Pfeiffer imprints. Mr. Wiley has
attended all Board and Committee meetings as an observer since March
2011, has a Certificate of Director Education from the National
Association of Corporate Directors, and has completed the Stanford
Directors’ College executive education program at the Stanford
University Law School.

company. Brad’s service has been distinguished by his focus on effective
and accountable corporate governance. Warren’s knowledge and insights
about our markets, in particular higher education, have been an
invaluable resource to the board for nearly two decades.”
Bradford Wiley II served as a director since 1979 and the Chairman of
Wiley’s Board from 1993 to 2002, He was an editor in its Higher
Education business from 1989 to 1998. He is a viticulturist and was
previously a newspaper journalist and winery manager.
Warren J. Baker, a director since 1993, is the President Emeritus,
California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, Special
Assistant to the Chancellor, California State University and is a member
of numerous organizations related to the advancement of Higher Education.
Wiley’s Board of Directors currently has twelve members.
