John Wiley & Sons, Inc., is pleased to learn that The Nobel Assembly at
Karolinska Institutet has awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or
Medicine for 2012 jointly to John B. Gurdon and Shinya Yamanaka.
Sir John B. Gurdon, of the Gurdon Institute in Cambridge, UK, and
Professor Shinya Yamanaka, of Kyoto University, Japan were awarded the
Nobel Prize for the discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to
become pluripotent; both are published Wiley authors.
Sir John Gurdon has authored several book chapters on genetics and stem
cells, as well as articles in the journals BioEssays, FEBS
Journal, Biology
of the Cell, and Developmental
Dynamics. Professor Yamanaka has written articles in Current
Protocols in Stem Cell Biology, Molecular
Reproduction & Development, STEM
CELLS, Genes
to Cells, Journal
of Cellular Physiology, and Development,
Growth & Differentiation. Professor Yamanaka has also written an
article to be published in the Encyclopedia
of Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine, coming in Spring
2013.
